LIFTING EQUIPMENT AND LIFTING ACCESSORIES
Recognizing the critical role of lifting equipment in citizens’ daily lives and, consequently, the economy, as a result of their direct or indirect dependence on various economic activities such as construction, vehicle repair and maintenance, loading – unloading – handling of goods, removals, and warehouse operation, CyCert expanded the activities of its Technical Sector by offering initial and periodic inspections. CyCert has partnered with an accredited body with specialised knowledge and years of experience in the field to conduct lifting equipment inspections.
Cyprus regulation R.A.A.153/2021 is intended to promote the safe operation, initial and periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of lifting equipment and lifting accessories.
Lifting machines have been classified according to their risk level in accordance with regulation R.A.A.153/2021, and the frequency of inspections has been determined as shown in the table below:

The inspection and certification process for the proper and safe operation of lifting equipment and lifting accessories includes the following:
- Inspect the maintenance / inspection manual, operating instructions, and certificates of previous inspections, among other things.
- Compliance with labelling and safety requirements
- Mechanical and electrical component inspection.
- Functional control in the presence or absence of loads.
- Functional control of all safety systems / mechanisms.
- Prepares audit report containing all findings / nonconformities.
After passing the inspection, the lifting equipment and lifting accessories are deemed suitable and safe for use for the duration of the certificate’s validity period, provided that they are maintained regularly, the safety condition and operation of the safety devices are in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, and the lifting machine is not assembled, converted, or seriously repaired.
