LIFTS
CyCert inspects lifts installed in the Republic of Cyprus, both new and existing. CyCert has been approved by the competent authority (Department of Labor Inspection) to conduct periodic inspections as an Authorized Inspector in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health at Work (Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection of Lifts) Regulations of 2012. CyCert has partnered with an accredited body with specialised knowledge and years of experience in the field to conduct initial lift inspections (R.A.A 309/2016, 2014/33 / EU).
CyCert has inspected and certified over 2000 lifts throughout Cyprus since 2013, including inspections in government buildings, banking institutions, hotels, and hospitals, as well as numerous other significant projects.
The procedure for the lift’s initial and periodic inspections includes the following:
- Inspect the maintenance manual, instruction manuals, and so forth.
- Visual examination of metal structures, components, and the like.
- Verifies that all requirements for marking and safety mechanisms are met.
- Control of all safety systems / mechanisms on a functional level (Buffer, Safety Gear, Overspeed, Rapture valve etc.)
- Functional control in the presence or absence of loads
- Completes the maintenance book’s corresponding pages.
- Prepares an audit report detailing all observations / non-conformances and, if applicable, issues a certificate.
After a lift is installed and before it is used for the first time, an initial inspection is performed. Each lift is inspected on a regular basis, at least once every 24 months, in accordance with the regulation R.A.A. 533/2012.
