Construction Products – CE Marking

Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 (the Construction Products Regulation, or CPR) establishes uniform regulations for the marketing of construction products within the European Union. The Construction Products Regulation provides a common technical language for evaluating the performance of construction products. When a manufacturer decides to place a construction product to the market and the product is either covered by a harmonised standard or a European technical assessment has been issued for it, the manufacturer is required to draw up a declaration of performance (DoP). The DoP provides information on the performance of a construction product. Once the declaration of performance has been prepared, the manufacturer must affix a CE marking to the product. CE marking signifies that the product's performance has been assessed and remains consistent. The CE marking allows a construction product to be legally placed on the market in any Member State and subsequently traded across the EU's single market. CE marking on a product also implies that it has been subjected to procedures of assessment and verification of constancy of performance as outlined in CPR. The Notified Bodies carry out third-party activities related to conformity assessment as defined in the CPR. CyCert is a Notified Body (No. 2010) pursuant to the Construction Products Regulation for assessment and verification of constancy of performance for Aggregates and Cement. In addition to its notification, CyCert collaborates with other notified bodies for assessing and verifying performance consistency for a great variety of construction products (e.g building lime, admixtures, masonry mortar, bituminous mixtures, bituminous emulsions, products for the repair of concrete structures, welding consumables, cold formed welded structural hollow sections, slurry surfacing etc.) Certification Process / Quotation Any organisation interested in obtaining certification of constancy of performance of the construction product or a certificate of conformity of the factory production control according to CPR, should contact Cyprus Certification Company via e-mail (cccweb@cycert.org.cy) or telephone (+ 357 22 411435) for additional information.
